Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is always special for us, especially since it is Kiley's birthday. We open his presents, get new jammies, and read a new Christmas story. The kids also got new blankets from Grandma Gillette that they were in love with!

Gillette Family Christmas

The weekend before Christmas we drove to Island Park to celebrate Christmas with my side of the family. Up until then, we had only gotten rain in Twin Falls for the month of December. Once we hit Rexburg it was finally SNOW! The cabin that we had for the weekend was awesome. Kiley and I would LOVE to have a home like this one one day. The kids had a blast and we even got another foot of snow overnight one day as well.

A bunch of us took the sleds to Mesa Falls and it was BEAUTIFUL! Just being in nature and appreciating everything that God has created is so good for the soul. It was so peaceful to be with loved ones in a literal Winter Wonderland. While we were at the Falls, Laura and I watched the guys have a snowball fight and on our way back to the sleds, Dad opened the door to an outhouse and just stood there screaming over and over. Laura, Jason, and I just stood there thinking, "what is he doing? There is no way that he is really screaming like that. Kiley and Nick must be in there scaring him." Pretty soon a squirrel came running out and we all just died laughing. Dad said that it was trying to scale the door to get around him.

About a month ago, Laura was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. It was kind of even against the odds that they even caught it. To treat her, the surgery will require a full thyroid ectomy but her outlook is great. She will need to be on thyroid medicine for the rest of her life, and to get her levels just right will take time, but we are so blessed that she will be able to live a long healthy life.

I am so blessed to have this family of mine. We were missing Monica and Adam, but are so fortunate to have each other. We had such a wonderful Christmas.
