Recap of July 2011

This month has been very busy and very fun! Kaisley is super happy in the mornings and LOVES to smile and talk (we like to think that we are funny and she that she tells us stories about her day!)

Kaisley sleeps in her Boppy pillow while I am getting ready for the day.

One of the last newborn size of clothes that she gets to wear. She grows so fast!!

First time in 0-3 month old size! We love to dress her up.

Kais telling me a story.

She may wear pink dresses with flowers on her head but we let her be a tomboy too with her little bug hat. If only we knew what she really thought about her clothes....

For now she wears her jammas with the swaddler the hospital gave us wrapped around her so she sleeps better at night. We call it her straight-jacket for "Krazy-Kaisley!!" Lately she has stayed awake until 11p.m. but once she is asleep she only wakes up every 4 to 5 hours to eat. Don't know what we did to deserve the sleep time but we enjoy it!

She is in her "Safari Outfit" as we call it. When our friend Jessica Walker gave her the hat it didn't fit for awhile but now it's perfect.

Going for a walk

In Grandpa's camper eariler this month enjoying the air-conditioning. Her nails grow so fast and we waited until she was about a month and a half old to graduate from filing her nails to clipping them.

Kiley is really good at wrapping her up in a "Kaisley Burrito"

Hungry baby getting home from church.

Handed off to Dad for a good burp!

This month has been so fun and has flown by. It's amazing to see how fast she grows and to watch her starting to realize what is around her further and further away. We swear that WE make her smile even though they say it doesn't have anything to do with us :o) I take her on walks down at Rock Creek with Kohl and she loves to be in her stroller. For some reason every store we take her in she is perfectly content, EXCEPT for Target! And always in the baby section! Thank heaven for baby girls!

Kaisley's First Day at Church!

Last Sunday, the 24th of July 2011, was Kaisley's first day at church outside of Mommy's tummy. She was very good and Dad only had to take her into the foyer once. There were very good speakers and Sister Jessica Marshall talked a little about the Pioneers and how they had their babies in covered wagons and under trees in the heat. It reminded me how very lucky we were to have modern medicine to bring our healthy baby into the world. The choir sang "Fire of the Covenant," which was a beautiful song about the Pioneers as well as our modern-day Pioneers.
Dad and Kaisley in their Sunday Best!

We would have fixed her flower but she was grumpy that we had put her back in her car seat to take her home from church.

After Sacrament Meeting we went to Tyler and Angela's ward to see cousin David be set apart as a Priest. After that we went to their home for lunch and Jaxon was very excited to see his cousin "Kay-Zee." He even had her half way out of the baby swing before I caught him. Kaisley's cousin Tayson who is seven months old was very happy and loved to smile at everyone. It turned out to be a very good Sunday and we are so blessed to be able to spend time with our loved ones.

Kaisley's First Camping Trip

Grandma and Grandpa Gillette let us borrow their camper so that we could go camping at Anderson Reservior to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. I was very paranoid about mosquitos as well as us wearing bug repellant. We bought natural spray that was free of DEET but limited the use to our legs only. Poor Kiley was eaten alive but I wore sweats most of the trip and only had three bites and Kais had NONE, YAY!!

everyone is ready for the big walk!

couldn't have done it without the a/c!

Ky spotted a black bear and this is the best picture he snagged before the bear took off over the mountain.

Kohl loved to play in the water.

Our good friends Josh, Hannah, and their baby Paige came up to see us. They all found a huge log in the water and had fun playing on it and even fishing from it :o)

Kiley and Paige who is 2 years old

Grandma and Grandpa Gillette came up to be with us for two days. Kaisley is so loved!

Grandpa loves to play with Kaisley's toes!!

Mom and dad made non-traditional smores with banana's, crunch candy bars, and marshmallows. We brought up our old camping tote with food in it only to find that almost all of it had expired! We only noticed because we heated up a can of clam chowder and thought it tasted funny... it had expired in 2008!! Good thing Grandpa treated us to lunch at a cafe because it was slim pickings! PLUS the only fish that Ky caught was a cutthroat trout so he had to throw it back, but he still had fun "fishing" on his float tube! :o)

Life with the bigger Koski family

Life with Kaisley is very busy! For such a small person she certainly takes up a lot of room in our hearts! As well as needs a lot of stuff! :o)
Kaisley's first bath in her bathtub. Once she had her paci she was good to go for the first bath. After that she didn't need it and loved the water!!

Mom and Dad are very proud parents. We tease that our child is exceptional..... of course we really mean it!

Kaisley Mae Koski arrives!!

On Thursday June 9, 2011 Kaisley Mae Koski was born at 8:37 a.m. weighing 6lbs 2oz and measuring 19 inches long!
Kaisley was due June 28th but the Dr. had told us one week before she was born that she would come early, so we were anxiously awaiting Kaisley to arrive and was hoping it would be any day. On Wednesday we tried the old wive's tales like going for a long walk, eating fresh pineapple, and spicy hot wings. Thursday morning I woke up at 4:00 a.m. with some cramping but didn't think much of it until I noticed they were 6 minutes apart. I called the Dr. and she said to take a warm bath and see if I feel better or just to come to the hospital. we arrived at the hospital at 5:30 and the nurse said immediately that I could get an epidural, we just had to wait on the anesthisioligist. So we waited.... and waited.... then we found out he was stuck in surgery but another Dr. was coming from home. In the meantime Dr. Allen had broken my water and said that Kaisley had gone poddy and so she was going to have to go to the NICU. I finally got the epidural at 8:15 but Kaisley wasn't going to wait any longer and was quickly born! Dr. Astin asked if I wanted to hold her or wait for her to be cleaned up and I was afraid that she had inhaled some of her merconium so I told them to clean and check her. As they were cleaning her they said that there was no merconium and she was fine. I quickly regretted not holding her as soon as I could. Kaisley was born with a bruise on her hip that the Dr.'s thought was a birthmark. We were so happy and had lots of visitors!!

Kaisley in the bassinet at the hosptal she hated to sleep in. Mom and Dad were awake all night taking turns holding her. She wouldn't sleep unless she was held. And of course, we would do anything for our sweetheart!

First day at home!

Grandpa Koski comes to visit

Kaisley's cousin Lexi

Her complexion is dark like her daddy's. She looks just like Daddy did in his baby pictures. Mom has a hard time finding any of herself in baby Kaisley!

Kaisley slept in a bassinet next to our bed for the first week before she went into her own bedroom. She immedietly slept through the night, waking only every three to five hours to eat. She is such a content and happy baby and we are so blessed to have her!

Such a cuddlebug!!

So little on Dad's arm!
